The Monterey County Business Council (MCBC) hosted its Third Annual Monterey Bay Regional Critical Conversation at Monterey’s Casa Munras Garden Hotel and Spa on Thursday, June 18th, 2015 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  1 of 16 Regional Critical Conversation Forums in California, the forum is part of the California Forward and the California Stewardship Network that will bring outcomes from each Regional forum to the to the California Economic Summit on November 12-13, 2015 in Ontario, California. As part of the summit network, MCBC continues to make significant progress with our community partners on workforce development, infrastructure financing, regulatory streamlining, advancing manufacturing, stewardship of working landscapes, access to capital and housing.

This forum included a keynote presentation in the morning session by Leslie-Appleton-Young, Chief Economist and Vice-President of the California Association of Realtors, discussing the Central Coast residential and commercial real estate market.  Joyce Aldrich, Executive Director of the Monterey County Workforce Investment Board, moderated a panel of regional Human Resources Directors representing agriculture, hospitality and advancing manufacturing discussing their hiring needs and opportunities.  Steve Blum, President of Tellus Venture Associates, gave an overview of regional broadband projects and affiliated activities of  the Central Coast Broadband Consortium.  Attendees received an update on the activities of the Monterey Bay Economic Partnership, which was introduced at last year’s forum.

We had a working lunch, where participants will helped shape and prioritize issues of regional importance that will be carried to the November Economic Summit in Ontario.
